Well, it's that time again! We are moving in a few days! I know I've been bad about blogging the last few months, but I figure I would at least close the chapter to my "Sally Moves to Boston" blog. We've had a great time exploring this city and had many visitors along the way. We've made some great friends here, as well! I look forward to our time in DC, but will miss Boston terribly!

I will continue with the blogging and will make changes once we get to DC.

We took a trip to D.R. at the beginning of March and stayed in Boca Chica, a small resort town near Santo Domingo. It was a great time minus the 2nd degree sunburn I got on my hands and chest, the first day out in the sun! I have NO idea why some parts tanned and others didn't, but I tried not to let it ruin my time, even though I had to stay out of the sun the remainder of the trip! :(

Mom Mc had kicked started my butt back into updating my blog! HI MOM MC!!! :) I've been so bad about it and I think I have Facebook to blame! It's much more addicting!

Quick update on my last post - I will not be having nose surgery even though I have a deviation on BOTH sides! I have too much scar tissue and removal could cause my nose to collapse! NOT GOOD, soooo I've decided not to risk looking like Micheal Jackson! ;)

Anyway, not much more to say, so I'll just post some pics!

I have decided that this is the perfect time to FINALLY have my deviated septum corrected. I haven't been able to breath out of one of my nostrils for years now, which has caused me problems with sleeping, headaches, sinuses, etc, but I've been too scared to do it. I have an appt with an ENT Wed, for an eval and I hope that we can get the ball rolling!

IT'S OFFICIAL!! We are moving to our nations capital in July. It's hard to believe our time in Boston is coming to an end, which makes me sad, but I am looking forward to the new adventure!! We haven't decided which area to live in, but it needs to be near the metro, because we are going down to one car! (I haven't been without a car since I was a teenager..YIKES!!!) If anyone has any suggestions, I would certainly appreciate the input.

My cousin Golriz came from Tucson, AZ to visit us the second week of August! We toured the whole city, went shopping and spent some time with her friend Phil, who also lives here! Even though the weather was mostly cloudy and/or rainy during her visit, we still managed to have a wonderful time hanging out!

I know I hadn't blogged in a while and I'm not one to drag things on, so here are some quick thoughts and updates....

* I had a break from school for a month, but had to start again yesterday. :(

* I did something to my back in May, which has caused me severe pain, so I've been to the doctors 4 times about it and now I have to see a physical therapist 3 times a week. :(

* Good news is, I'm getting better. :)

* Went to see Sex and the City at the theater and loved it for the most part, but was a bit upset they cut Aiden's scenes out of the movie and had such a big part for Jennifer Hudson all together! (Read the part about Aiden in my July Marie Claire.) :0

* I went to the dentist for a cleaning and as luck would have it, I have a cavity on all 4 wisdom teeth. Been there twice already and still need to go back! :( I hate the dentist!

* I am still really upset about the tomato shortage due to salmonilla! I need my Roma tomatoes back ASAP!

* Aside from all the above, the weather has been gorgeous here and I'm THRILLED it's summer!!!! YAY!!!!! :)

On Sat afternoon, we took D kayaking on the Charles River, which is something I've always wanted to do! We kayaked to the city and back and then went to Emily's house for a BBQ. It was the perfect summer day!

Damien came to visit us again this past Thurs for the weekend. All I can say is he must really like us! ;) Rowdy had to work on Fri, so D and I had some sushi downtown and walked around the city before we had to meet Rowdy and Bill for a Red Sox game.

I also realized this is the 3rd time in a row Rowdy's been wearing the same shirt. He just really likes it I guess, but he does have other clothes, I promise!!!

4th of July weekend, Rowdy and I made trip to NYC for quick getaway. I've seen everything, but Rowdy still hadn't really seen some of the sights. We took a boat ride to the Statue of Liberty, took another Trolley ride and then walked around during our stay.

We flew to Vegas May 8-12, along with 20+ other of Jamie and Jake's friends and family, to surprise Jamie for her 30th birthday! Jake has been planning for months and it went off without a hitch! WOW, did we get her!! I couldn't get a picture of her face, but Jamie was BEYOND shocked and excited!! We spent the next few days celebrating and had a fabulous time!!!

I am so behind on posts, I don't even know where to begin!!!

I've been SO busy! I guess now is a good time to explain WHY I've been so busy! I am back in school and working too! I started school again last year, full time, but decided not to blog about it until I was sure I wouldn't flunk out! HA! Good news is, I have maintained a 4.0....bad news....I have no time to blog or do anything fun! Anyway, I decided to go back for Interior Design and I'm in my second of 3 semesters needed for my degree. It's been a challenge and VERY time consuming, but I'll be done by the end of this year and that's what keeps me motivated!

I will catch up on my blogging this weekend and at least TRY to blog more frequently.

Emily and I decided to brave the crowds and meet Deb at a bar next door to Fenway to watch the game. Rowdy was smart and stayed home. It was nuts!!! Emily and I decided to leave in the 7th inning to beat the crowds and were greeted outside by hundreds and I mean HUNDREDS of police with shields and big sticks. They actually said we were really smart to leave when we did. I was glad too! It was pretty neat experience, though. We made it home just in time to watch them win!

Emily, Deb, Carrie, Kristen, ME and a quarter of Roshni(who knows) Deb came into town from Dallas, so we all went out for a girls night and also to watch the World Series game in Davis Square. We had a great dinner and cocktails. The bartender was actually one of the cast members from MTV Real World Key West and yes I did watch it! I can't remember his name, but he lives here. Rowdy and his friend Scott met us out later to watch the rest of the game. Red Sox won and then we went home!

One afternoon, at Jamie's, her neighbor came over to tell us there was a snake in her yard. It turned out to be a poisonous Water Moccasin. He was a biggin'!!! I tried to get up close to take a picture, but was told that they WILL chase you! YIKES! Housing maintenance showed up to tend to the issue. We thought maybe they would capture it and take it away, but they killed it with a shovel instead. It was disturbing and left us a little sad, but I guess it had to be done! They have all kinds of interesting creatures around base housing, including an assortment of lizards, frogs, turtles, racoons, foxes, armadillas and even alligators!

I've been forgetting to take my camera with me lately, so my blog will be boring! Sorry!

Other than work, we've been spending time with our Boston friends, catching up on phone calls and of course, Rowdy's been watching football. I've officially lost control of the big screen until Superbowl!!

Rowdy also traveled to Florida for work and got to spend some time with James, Susan and my one of my best buds, Claudia, the previous week and weekend(no pics, of course)!

We had a relaxing Labor Day weekend, grilling out with friends. The weather was superb, but I'm not looking forward to the cold!!!!

Rowdy leaves again tomorrow for a work trip to Vegas. I was going to go, but planned another trip instead(more about that later). His mom and sister will be visiting him from Tucson though, so I know he's excited to see them.

That's all I have for now, but will make an effort to blog more regularly!

I went to the DR. for my yearly physical and it turns out I have high cholesterol! It's jumped up 49 points from last year! I've NEVER had this problem and starting going down the list of guilty pleasures, that are in my diet, that must go IMMEDIATELY!!

Here is the " BAD" list:

Hot and Spicy Cheez-Its- Love em', but you have to go!

Hershey's Symphony bars- Rowdy's sister introduced them to me in Jan and I've been hooked ever since!!

Gyros: The Commissary has these delicious Gyro kits, but they are REALLY fatty, so BYE BYE!

Jenos frozen pizza - :( Sigh

Mifune Chinese Restaurant- opened up right across the street and is DELISH! UGH!

Breast Cancer Walk

James and I went to pick up the ladies from the South Boston, after their walk was complete. We were also there for the closing ceremonies, which was incredibly moving. I don't know how many times I was brought to tears. We were very proud of the ladies for completing their over 60 mile walk! It was very difficult for them, especially Susan, to walk in the heat (Susan and James are expecting their first baby). It really took a lot of work and dedication on their parts! Boston, alone, raised $5 million!!!!

Rowdy and James were planning on going to the Red Sox game while we went sight seeing. They waited in line for hours, but of course when they got to the front, the only tickets available were in the hundreds(which I think is just crazy!!!), so they went to Boston Beer Works instead for a pitcher of ice cold blueberries with a splash of beer!

Susan, Amy and Kim planned their 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk in Boston this year, so they could see us as well. James wasn't walking, but came along just to hang out. Kim(Susan's best friend) and Amy(Susan's sister) flew in from Denver and James and Susan from Orlando, all on Aug 1. The next day, we walked the city, saw some sights and then met up with the boys to have a lobster dinner.
I'd have to say, it was the hottest few days in Boston since we've lived here and the poor ladies had to walk in it!!!

I just LOVED Montreal! It was a such a fun city and VERY different from Toronto. French is their language, but most people spoke English as well, so it made it a little easier to get around. We stayed in the Old Town, close to the water, where they had a ton of art galleries, shops, restaurants, bars, you name it! I definitely want to go back before we leave New England.

Stein, Toni(Travis and Val's friend from KC), D and Me!

Sat afternoon, we BBQ'd at D's and then walked to Wrigley Field for a Cub's game. The weather was gorgeous! After the game, we went out around the stadium. We later decided to take the party back to D's and stayed up all night, AGAIN! We had a really great time talking, laughing hysterically, playing jokes on each other, you name it! It was just like the good ole' days! It was hard to see the weekend come to an end, but at the same time, nice to finally get some sleep! :)

Damien had restaurants and pubs by his place, so Eric, Damien, Rowdy and myself had dinner at this delicious Cuban Restaurant, while we waited for everyone else to arrive. After the crew showed up, we decided to stay in the neighborhood. I honestly can't remember any of the names of the places we went, but it was really about us getting together and, of course, Damien's Birthday!! We stayed up all night talking and laughing!!

We had cousin Alex come visit from Tucson, AZ for the week, last week. She had never been to Boston or NYC so she and Dan went to NYC while we were in Chicago and had a pretty good time.

Deep Sea Fishing

On July 8th, Rowdy and Danny went deep sea fishing with Liam and Nish. Danny caught and they all killed this 150 pound Blue Fin Tuna. Poor Guy! They said it was one of the best experiences ever! I, on the other hand, don't find any enjoyment out of catching and killing my own food. That's just me. Anyway, they brought a TON of tuna home and went to Liam's to grill some of it.

Yankees vs Oakland A's

While I was in STL, Rowdy and Danny decided to take a bus to NYC to watch the Yankees vs Oakland game at Yankee Stadium. After the game, they walked the city, ate some pizza and then took the bus right back home. They said it was a great time.

We headed to the Esplanade for another(well,for me anyway) 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular Show. This year, Craig Ferguson, from the Late Late Show was the host, Blue Man Group performed and John Mellencamp played the free concert. It was cold and rainy all night, but still worth seeing!

Shari and I went to the Police concert on July 2nd. She had an extra ticket and asked if I wanted to go! The show was FANTASTIC! I had to fly out early the next morning, so it was a perfect ending to my trip!

Another reason for my trip to STL was to surprise the heck out of Brian! The timing couldn't have been more perfect. I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to give him grief about turning 30, for ANYTHING! HA! Samantha really pulled it off! The party was great! It was wonderful to visit with old friends, Brian and Sam's families, and of course, Mr. Nolan!!!

One of the main objectives for my trip to MO, was to visit my grandparents and OH yeah, see my mom's purple cast. (She broke her arm a couple months ago...DAMN OSTEOPOROSIS!!!!) My uncle was also visiting from LA, so that was an additional bonus. I was so happy to spend time with them!!

I've been wanting to refinish an old antique drop leaf table we have, but it never seemed to happen, so with my brothers help, we decided to paint the table AND bar stools instead. It's amazing what a couple coats of paint can do. They look as good as new!

Frank and Dom came into town for visits at the same time. Dom came in on Tues and Frank on Thurs. On Thurs, we had a couple cocktails at our place and then went to the Diva lounge for some Indian Tapas and Martini's. We also ran into our friend Liam on the street with his co-worker Monique(from France), had them join us and then out of the blue saw Lou's best bud, Matt!!!!! I grabbed him off the street, to his surprise, and made him join us as well! I'm pretty sure he thinks we're NUTS, but we had a fantastic time anyway!!! ;)
